From Chronic Pain to Professional Dancer: Holistic Healing with Eilyen
What happens when you refuse to let a diagnosis define your future?
At just 17, Eilyen was diagnosed with scoliosis and osteochondrosis, placed in a restrictive corset and told she might never be able to dance or live without significant limitations.
But Eilyen chose a different path.
Her search for alternative approaches to pain and healing eventually led her to become a professional dancer—and one of London’s leading belly dancers. Now 78 and still dancing, Eilyen shares the extraordinary journey that shaped her life and inspired her to create the Center of Unified Healing.
In this episode of Hot Flushes & Higher Self, Soraya and Eilyen explore the connection between the mind, body, emotions and energy—and why no single approach to healing holds every answer.
Together, they discuss:
• Eilyen’s journey from chronic back pain to professional dancing
• The relationship between emotional experiences and physical pain
• Osteopathy, Rolfing, Feldenkrais and embodied movement
• How limiting beliefs and familiar patterns keep us stuck
• Why change feels frightening—even when we are unhappy
• Learning to recognise and trust your intuition
• Menopause and midlife as a rite of passage
• Repressed anger and the emotional cost of caring for everyone else
• Restoring the balance between giving and receiving
• Simple practices to reset your mind and reconnect with your body
• Auras, chakras, energy vampires and protecting your energy
• Why age should never determine what is possible for you
Eilyen’s story is a powerful reminder that a diagnosis, your past and your age do not have to define what comes next.

Soraya: Eilyen's journey into holistic healing began when she was just 17, when she was told that she may never dance or live without significant limitations. Refusing to accept that prognosis, she began to explore alternative approaches to healing and remarkably went on to become a professional dancer and one of London's leading belly dancers. In this conversation today, we explore Eileen's extraordinary personal journey, the beliefs and familiar patterns that keep us stuck, the importance of movement embodiment, and why midlife can be a powerful rite of passage, inviting us to receive more, trust ourselves, and step into new possibilities.
Diagnosed With Scoliosis and Chronic Back Pain at 17
Eilyen: My journey started off in childhood. I had a bad back. And what had happened was uh I was a quite a sporty person and I sprained my ankle nine times. And the last sprain was really, really bad. But I wasn't able to heal, I wasn't given the time to heal it. So I landed up turning my leg out to not have to go over the ankle. Um, because at that time I had to look after the family uh all the time. And so it was it was an issue. Um and so the time went on, and I hadn't been to a doctor, I hadn't, you know, done anything.
Eilyen: And eventually in my teenage time, I was noticing as well that I couldn't sleep in the mornings because I always woke up with pain in the lower back. So I landed up going to the hospital and they gave me uh a lot of tests. In fact, they gave me a myelogram, um, where they they injected um spinal fluid into my spine. Um, and that means you can't think properly or you're you're you're sort of in a in a inner days. Um and when I went around the wards, I noticed that um people were going back into having spinal fusions two and three times on failed operations.
Eilyen: At the end of the week, uh I could hardly move and I was so drugged up with so many pills. The doctor came in to me, he said to me, You've got scoliosis and you've got osteochondrosis, um, and then you need to come back and have one of these spinal fusions if the pain doesn't go. And they made a force it for me. I was only about 17 or 18 at the time from from my bust down to my hips with leather straps on, and said to me, You'll never be able to dance, and you'll never be able to sit for long periods of time, nor stand for long, any long periods of time.
Eilyen: And I said to the doctor, I don't understand really why I feel worse coming into the hospital than why you've given me so many tablets, why all of this is going on. Um, I said, I don't know where I'm gonna go, what I'm gonna do. I only know what you're doing here doesn't work for me. I discharged myself on my own. And what's what did your parents say? I think were you they okay? I was the one looking after the family, and my father didn't look after me in that way either. That's why I had to do the dinner and not I wasn't looked after when I was a carer.
Eilyen: And so um at the time I was working as a secretary, I had left home, I worked as a secretary, and the previous secretary said to me, Eileen, you can go to uh an osteopath. I didn't know what an osteopath was, I knew nothing about alternative medicines in that time.
Discovering Osteopathy and Defying Her Prognosis
Eilyen: So I I went for two hours outside of London to an osteopath, and he said to me, I want you to take the corset off. I want you to go and dance. Wow, okay. Walk up and down hills. Your childhood has been part of what your problem is, and we'll we will look and see what's happening with you. And I think was within about a year I became a professional dancer by accident. And he by accident, yes, and he said to me, I haven't I didn't ask you to become a professional, and you've you've turned into a professional.
Eilyen: So it was really um, you know, that was one of my first, you know, uh movements of understanding. And then he was introduced me to diet. It was it's a long journey um that I went through to get really into the holistics side of um of healing. So that was a long time ago, Eileen. A very long time ago. I've had other incidences, but I don't know if you it it would take too much time to hear all of it.
Soraya: No, that's interesting how you first got into it. So you got into it at a very young age, at 17, 18. That's when you first experienced that through the osteopath, and how he helped you with your spine, which you could take the corset off that was put on you.
Eilyen: Yeah. And also do exactly opposite to what I was told.
Soraya: Yeah.
Eilyen: But I had seizures, it wasn't an easy journey. I did have seizures, and in the end the osteopath said, I can't, I can't, uh, the the treatment doesn't work for you. This was after five years. That's why it's a long, it's a long. I don't want to take up the whole podcast with telling you about it. It's been a long journey.
Soraya: Okay, so was there a particular turning point when you realized that something in your life had to change then?
How Emotions, Intuition and Movement Affect the Body
Soraya: Yes.
Eilyen: Um I realized that um diet had to change. I had to understand about connection, I had to understand that what is happening in one's life is affecting the body. Uh I had to understand that um we need to listen to our intuition because we don't have it. Um I got into movement in a big way, in fact, um, and wrote the major part of the Vogue exercise book and got into Feldenkrais work as well. Lots of different things about move exercise movement, um, and uh progressed myself in that way and took a big interest in other people uh wanting to help them if they had a back problem, because I knew what what that was like, and it's been an honest journey for me to keep the balance of it as well.
Soraya: So you you worked with um the osteopaths for five years, you said, and so after the osteopath you said it no longer helped you. So what did you do next?
Eilyen: Well, that was another one of those um turning points, if you like, because I then went to another osteopath who felt I felt really quite betrayed, you know. After what am I going to do? And I went to um another osteopath in Marlebone Road and he said to me, Don't waste your time here. Oh he said, Um, I know you want to get better. And he sent me to a Rolfer, which a lot of people don't know what Rolfing is. I don't know what that is. What a rolfa. Yeah, so that it it's it's um a structural integration technique, which comes from the States from a woman called Ida Rolfe.
Eilyen: And he he did they were Americans, they'd come over from America, these guys. Um, and they do you must do 10 sessions. Quite daring, if you can understand, about wanting to get because I didn't know about any of these practices.
Soraya: Because you were very young, Gile, when it all started. So I'm I'm quite impressed that you were open to trying all of this on.
Eilyen: That's what I realize about myself.
Soraya: I have teenagers, my teenagers are not open to my woo-boo ways sometimes. So the fact that you actually went on this path by yourself is very impressive. Thank you.
Eilyen: So they rolled me, and of course, I had some bad experiences with that as well. They changed your whole posture and balance everything out that hasn't been straight and all of that, you know. Um, and then I could do splits, and I was able to go and do all my dance in a different way, and I was then they said to me you have to do Feldenkrais work, that was another turning point. So I did a lot of workshops in in um Feldenkrais work and uh became a belly dancer, and I was London's number one belly dancer.
Soraya: Oh wow. Fun fact. So I didn't know that, Eileen.
Eilyen: Okay, yeah, so I got into all of that, but at the same time, I wanted to um help other people as well, as well as so I did uh a course in beauty therapy and didn't like the more superficial side of it and went into aromatherapy, but aromatherapy not as you know it uh in nowadays, because I did it with um Madame Marcier who had a far more holistic approach to it and taught me the Chinese uh polarity massages things, you know, with pressure points. Then I met up with a Japanese uh doctor who um really helped my back again in another big way, um, and taught me more about the whole balance between the head and the toes with all the pressure points and all the meridians.
Eilyen: So he taught me a lot of all of that as well. I went and did more courses in it as well. Um and and I could move around, and I what I will say to you is I manage myself in what I have because sometimes I have the pains, but I know how to my intuition talks to me and tells me you need to do that exercise, or you need to do this, you need to do that, do do the other, and I listen to myself, help myself with it. So you still have the bit of the back pain, is that right? I unfortunately had another very big accident around my menopause time, head first into the railings.
Eilyen: Oh wow, off the stairs. So that's that's what I didn't want to get into because that was huge. Everything that I did was thrown out the window, and I had to start from scratch, and that moved me more into meditation because nothing worked, and I didn't understand that when you have such a shock and trauma that your aura is shattered into a million pieces, and you're not able to feel anymore. And I'm a feeling person and sensing with all my stuff, but I couldn't feel areas of me, was all stuck, and this went on for over four years.
Soraya: Wow, okay. So you've been proof quite a journey, I mean, for your healing, and and I'm assuming like on that journey you've learned a lot about yourself as well.
Eilyen: I did, and I've learned about you know other people. I call myself the you know, like the Chiron, the the wounded healer. Yeah, I I'm good at helping other people, um, but I have to manage myself. But you don't understand it when I walk or do anything, nobody understands anything.
Soraya: No, because I mean I've I've met you, Eileen. I would never have known that you've been through all of this by just by by meeting you in person.
Why Holistic Healing Must Unite Mind, Body, Heart and Energy
Soraya: And what inspired you to create the center of unified healing and what does unified healing mean to you?
Eilyen: Okay, so the center of unified healing was that I realized that no one system has all the answers. We have to think between our mind, our the energy behind it, the the the um uh internal unconscious and uh subconscious mind, um, and our heart coherence, our compassion with understanding and acceptance with ourselves. Um, and then we have to also embody all of that together. We have to put mind and heart together. We can't think just mind, we can't just think heart. We must think that together, and that coming together becomes the intuition, and that if you can be in faith with your intuition, it will guide you really well.
Eilyen: And so you can help other people with that, or you can help yourself with it when you have that understanding. So the center of unified healing for me is about all the other components of bringing different aspects together, and so you find that one aspect might work one time, but it might not work the next time because we're constantly changing, and we need to be able to draw on what we need in the moment, and yeah, the unified healing is not about saying, I am just this or I am just that or I am just that, because you need to understand the universal energy, the grounding energy, and what's in between it, everything about it, and live in the present moment to bring yourself forward.
Soraya: Yeah, I think that's the key, though, isn't it? I mean, I think a lot of people struggle living in the present moment. You know, that's why people struggle with anxiety, constantly overthinking the worst-case scenarios or being depressed about what's happened, but being in the present, I think that is a main issue of today's society.
Eilyen: It is, and also about you know, somebody once said this to me, and it I think it's a very true statement. Um, the problem with human beings is the memory. We have a memory and we can't discount the memory, but what we can do is accept that that's what it was, and it's not in the moment because we can't change it, we can't go back. So we have to in the moment, what inspires us in the moment, what is good for us in the moment.
Soraya: Yeah, I think that's um that takes time to bring us into the now, and it's it's I think it is kind of um training the mind and not being consumed by our thoughts, and you know, that's a lot I see a lot of my clients do suffer with anxiety because that's that constant overthinking, and that's it. I think by human nature that's what we're kind of wide always to expect the worst.
Eilyen: But that's why we need to take the mind into the whole embodiment and have movement as well. I mean, hypnotherapy is a lovely, beautiful um uh healing tool, actually, because I do I do past life regression and stuff, which is you know quite similar in that way. But um it when you get into your mind, you still have to do the movement, you still have to embody yourself.
Soraya: Yeah, absolutely. I agree. I think movement is so important to release the things as well that are stored in your body.
Eilyen: But also, I think we have to look at the elements. You know, some people are more in the fire element, and that means that they need the activity, and some people are more in the air element, and they will need the inspiration of the mind, but they may not be grounded. So then the earth people, they need more of the air, for instance.
Soraya: How can you tell which element someone's in? So, for instance, me, if I come to see you, what would you say? What's my element? How would you know that?
Eilyen: I would be looking at your astrological sign, which I know you to be fire. Um, so you're a fire element by your sun sign, but I don't know your other aspects. And if it I might ask you questions about how do you find your intuition or your inspirations, what made it click for you? Do you get it in a flash? Or did you do you have to watch a film or do you have to hear somebody talking? What what makes you how do you become inspired for different things that help heal you? That might my question. Yeah.
Soraya: I think I sometimes get like down those. I kind of get inspired, it comes things come out of nowhere, and then I just kind of follow that nudge. So that's a flash, you see, and that's the fire. Okay. That's so interesting. I'm always fascinated by all of this learning. Yeah, okay. So that's how you would work based according to the astrological thoughts.
Eilyen: Yeah, so that's that's you know, so for instance, if I'm doing a reading example for someone, flashes come into me. So I don't know from beforehand, but the flash can come in. Sometimes it comes in afterwards, too, but flash.
Soraya: Okay. It's really interesting. Thank you for sharing that. Um, and what patterns do you most commonly see keeping people stuck or disconnected from themselves?
Limiting Beliefs, Repeating Patterns and Fear of Change
Eilyen: I think people disconnect themselves uh with rigid thinking and belief patterns. So the belief patterns that they have is always been like this for me, it's always been the other, you know, it's always uh the same thing, or my father taught me that, or my mother taught me that, or this is what I believe in, you know. And they're quite rigid about their own belief. But beliefs have to change when they don't work anymore. So it's important to be able to identify what belief is making them stuck. And the conversations with them are always in the same vein, they're not letting go of that one pattern.
Eilyen: Now that pattern could be from a past life, or it could be from in this lifetime, but it's repeating all the time and it becomes useless because it's just holding them back. So it's identifying what patterns are able to be changed.
Soraya: Why is it so difficult for us to recognize the patterns that are no longer serving us?
Eilyen: Because human beings are frightened of change. We're like the familiar. It's the devil we know is better than the devil we don't know. And walking into the unknown takes courage. And so sometimes when you don't know where you're going and what you're going to do, you need to step out of your home. And you normally will go to the left, we'll go to the right this time. Don't know where you're going. Just challenge yourself. Go down another road that you never went to before. Allow yourself into the possibilities.
Soraya: That's a great tip, actually. I think that's a really practical thing to do on a day-to-day if you're kind of stuck in your head to choose a different way. Yeah. It's again like kind of going with um, you know, neuroplasticity, creating new pathways, thinking different ways, doing things differently.
Eilyen: Absolutely. Just walk into a different that you've never been into and you couldn't be bothered with, walk into a different pathway that you would normally walk into when you walk for a go on a you know, a nature walk, go a different way, come back a different way. Challenge yourself to the unknown. I love that. Yeah, because we are creatures of habit.
Soraya: We, you know, we're so used to certain things, we do things, and it's that familiar, we know what to expect, even if we're unhappy, it just we know what's going to happen. Like, like you said earlier, the devil, we know we stick with that. But kind of, you know, choosing something different and just going with it is a great way to start thinking differently.
Eilyen: Yes, absolutely have to, and that often comes from um, you know, an inspiration. You know, I had an inspiration just recently to wear a jade. And I and and where I was, I couldn't get the jade, and I've I'd been wanting to get to the shop, and I went to the shop uh again, which has always been closed, to buy the jade. This is the one I'm wearing. Um that woman's but I said to her, could you put my leaflets out here? You've got lovely stuff, and I'm going to get the the Buddha and and wear the jade.
Eilyen: She said to me, You might be interested in the wellness group.
Soraya: put my and that's where I've lined it up even meeting you just an inspiration yeah that's great but this is it though isn't it I listened to it is a Buddha mmm yeah I love that but I do I do believe that's kind of part of it isn't it like the intuition following your your instinct and like synchronicities as well how they show up yes and then and then I just said right I'm not going to carry on with what I'm doing I'm gonna be more involved back into more of my holistic work again um and that that one intuition changed into that necklace into meeting you and meeting the group and starting to carry on and I what were you doing before Aileen so you had stopped your holistic stuff?
Soraya: Yeah I had yes yeah wow yeah and now I'm picking it all back up again because I've got mass material I love that's great that's a great example about how we need to follow our intuition and just kind of go with the flow and I think once you follow it you're in your your flow things show up don't they and it feels more you're not pushing. No and it actually makes you so happy it brings a joy because I remember coming back from the first meeting and thinking wow they're a happy bunch yeah I love it absolutely yeah oh well thanks for sharing that story it's a great example about the importance of just following our you know our flash like you say yes absolutely um and as you know this podcast is all about midlife so we're gonna go into a little bit more about that um so you know as you know many women experience a shift during the midlife how can the stage become an opportunity for deeper healing and transformation how did it affect you Eileen because you were already quite holistic anyway did you feel any changes when you were going for midlife?
Menopause and Midlife as a Rite of Passage
Eilyen: Well it was rather unfortunate that I had that other accident right on it I was um 56 at the time yeah uh and I was still having a period and it and it went that was it the end of it. Um so midlife to me I hate the word midlife crisis because rite of passage really it's about change again and I relate it back to um you know when we have puberty it's a transition in our hormone and when we're in menopause it's a transition. And so sometimes depending on what's going on with a woman in a woman's life you know it can be a time when they're retiring at the time that their children are leaving home.
Eilyen: And so these changes that go on whether it's the hot flashes whether it's the um body shape changing um whether it's the forgetfulness that comes in as well or the emotional side of it becomes another sort of a fear if you want of not knowing what's going to happen to me because I'm suddenly not functioning in the same way and I can't do what I used to do before. Does that mean sexuality's going as well you know what's happening to me you know and so I feel like it's an opportunity again to go to uh can be to acupuncture for instance and have herbs Chinese herbs are amazing for menopausal times um it's a time to ask yourself do I have to feel beautiful all the time only because I've got my period uh can it be that I'm able to do other things and use myself differently all the time this is about this change reinventing yourself and creating that change so we have to what really walk into um a wisdom knowingness of how we know things were but how we transform them to us in the future and what will inspire us in those moments and that will be different from what it was in the before because you're not going to throw yourself around like you did when you were 20 you will be doing other things you might take an interest in art you might take an interest in um uh helping other people in different ways formats of different things it might be holistic stuff but you've got to take more care of your diet that than what you did before and you find that the hot flushes are stimulated by wine maybe or by um sugar um so dietary side and exercise side and things to move and do things rather than sit back and thinking oh what's happening to me sitting back and doing nothing about it is not the way.
Repressed Anger, Caregiving and Reclaiming Your Freedom
Soraya: Yeah and I sometimes feel like our body is kind of um telling us that things have to change as well I do find a lot of my clients they are unhappy they've got like a lot of anger in midlife and I think that's been repressed for so long so I think midlife is also a point when we kind of say what we call truth and we and we kind of do what we want to do as opposed to claim for others. And that brings you the freedom yeah and that brings you the limitless possibilities of what does it mean I'm not now caged I can do what I want yeah because for so many years we're always kind of taking care you know those of us who have children must have children our husband like our parents we're constantly taking care of others we forget what we want yeah in my experience myself I realized that for so many years I always wanted to cater for my children and my husband for food.
Eilyen: I didn't know what I wanted to eat I was always making what they wanted to eat and I think that's something I started realizing wait a second you know we need to think a bit more about ourselves because otherwise it's you know we kind of get angry at people and it yeah and I think we have to be we have to be reflective as well that you know we were in that environment and how do we feel afterwards that drain did that brus bring energy so we have to think and ask ourselves you know I will do that because I'm going to help that person but on this time I want to do this for my time.
Eilyen: Yeah so yeah processing that and finding that time shouldn't feel guilty.
Soraya: It has to be a freedom but I think that takes time for us women to also really um get used to because we're so used to doing things for others we feel guilty when we do things for ourselves so that's something you know again practicing doing it more and more and isn't I think it's important we also do stuff for ourselves.
Eilyen: Well if I could give you an an analogy yes please um when we talk when we look at chakra work and we look at the heart energy we have the left side which is the receiving side and the right side which is the giving side if you imagine now as a a female that only gives and gives and gives what on earth have you got to give when it runs out so the receiving side needs to be filled up otherwise there's nothing else to give other than your anger so when a more a woman says you know um I tell giving all the time I give and give and give and I don't get back you look at that woman and ask yourself if she somebody says to her what would you like me to do oh no it's okay I'll do it myself well you're not letting anybody in you have to be able to allow the support to come back in again and give the pleasure to the other person that they're doing it for you like you get the pleasure when you're doing for your children or your husband you're getting a pleasure out of that until it becomes a drain.
Eilyen: Because when you then ask back you then get the balance and that's what we strive for.
Soraya: And people don't get that yeah and again but it goes to habit is what we're used to doing for so long and you know it feels like the familiar we used to and and doing things differently is a bit uncomfortable and it takes time also but I think midlife is probably like a shakeup.
Eilyen: It's having the choice but to do things differently yes it it but I think we're processing all the time yeah because we die many times in one lifetime all the time processing it's a matter of how are we processing to set yourself set ourselves free but in order to do the things that we want to do.
Soraya: And that means that that takes collaboration yeah I agree and so what role do self-awareness intuition and self-trust play in the healing process?
Eilyen: That is the essence of uh finding out what is needed it's not just I know what I'm going to do with you example somebody comes to me it's not about I know what I'm gonna do with you no I need to see how they're going to respond what it is that they've got as an issue what steps can they take to make a change you know how are they you know they need monitoring to take them through as to whether they're able and willing to make those changes because if they're not willing to make changes there's not there isn't a system that's going to work yeah I mean that's it there isn't there you need to want to change before you can do anything about it.
Soraya: No you you can't change anybody they have to want to change and to be self-aware I think self-awareness is the first thing as well right otherwise you're living on autopilot absolutely so you know giving them the you know um a meditation and taking them through a journey to to let them have the love back into their themselves again and moving into a space of what they would like to have and see that it's it's feasible changes in order to have that that is really important on finding ways to do that.
Soraya: Yeah and is there a simple practice listeners can begin using to create greater balance of connection in their everyday lives so I would say in the morning we have to be appreciative of the day the sun the uh the greenery when it's in the summertime or spring and summertime autumn and to appreciate that we are alive and moving and we have the uh openness to do what we like to do even if we have to go to work or we have to take the children we still have our own timing to just you know to some degree unless something's very wrong there you know and then we move into always doing a program of whether it's 20 minutes something like that of movement of your choice whether it's tai chi whether it's yoga whether it's pilatis whatever it is that works for you and again that sometimes needs to be changed not always the same thing try different things um and then you know if another 10 minutes of meditation to do breathing um to really focus on yourself for a few minutes and go in get lost inside yourself with inspiring the with the breath in through the nose and exhalation out through the mouth um and with a sound even is really good with a uh you know or a mmm or it could be an um you know allow your voice to open up and the resonance within within you to to start to move and feel yourself so um you're then ready to start your day because you you you will have got insights you will have got stillness hopefully um and you can start with a clean um slate within yourself every day don't keep thinking it always has to be the grindstone we need to change how we speak if something's not working our communication needs to change yeah and I think I think that's so important that you're saying you know starting the day when you say because automatically we have these same thoughts coming from the day before so if you just wake up doing the same stuff like checking your phone and going straight into your day you have the same thoughts from the day before and then the same feelings and the same behaviors and it's just a loop.
A Simple Morning Practice to Reset Your Mind and Body
Soraya: So it's about I think you're right it's so important first thing just to kind of clear your mind yeah and set an intention and kind of go through your day it as it's a new day as opposed to just a repeated day from the day before.
Eilyen: Absolutely and if you can just get out of the house even if if if you haven't had a drink in the morning you know get out of the house even if it's for 10 minutes just get the fresh air come back in again start yeah it won't take that much time you know you just about half an hour three quarters of an hour or something altogether but you started fresh. Now I can get children up now I can do this now I can do the other yeah I think that's a really good point.
Soraya: Just getting outside even if it's hazy just to be outside in the air yes and just having that to start your day is a great kind of reset and yeah because I've had days when we've you know it's been raining just being in the house you feel a massive difference when you haven't left the house when you've just been at home the whole day as opposed to actually going outside and just moving your body so that's a great tip. Just keep thinking about singing in the rain yes and and and what would you say to someone who knows something needs to change but feels overwhelmed or unsure where to begin?
What to Do When You Feel Stuck or Afraid of Change
Eilyen: I'd first of all ask them you know obviously that the issue is about the change again so I would ask them what is it about looking at this situation that you have fear about where where do you feel it in your body and get them to place their hand on their body whether it's whether it's the solar plexus or whether it's down in the abdominal area or whether it's at the throat frightened to speak for instance they're feeling something so wherever it is and let the hand stay there and now breathe into that space and open that space and put light into it in order to lighten it up and now I would say to them when they're quiet of course um how would you feel comfortable to take the first step into making that change what would make you feel comfortable now if it was going to be a negative nothing and say well what is where do you feel stuck again that you haven't opened it out but that will start to unwind and resolve in order to make one little change and you might have to prompt them a little bit.
Eilyen: It might be speaking to someone or it might be not being with somebody in their life anymore they don't want them in their life anymore or it might be making a change of job or it might be having to say something to your children that you don't know how to relate with them or something but just to sort of see what is it where is it you holding that pattern and maybe even write it down from out of their mind onto a piece of paper that they can see it and it's not in the mind and then do another series of breathing exercises and then take them to the next step accept that we need you you you it's gone as far as it can go now we need to make that change and I'll support you what support you need in order to allow you to make the process it start resolve.
Eilyen: Okay and looking back what do you now understand about yourself that you wish you had known earlier wow lots of different things lots of different things I mean it's about patience I didn't always have the patience when I was younger I thought I could get people better myself that's not true you know um I felt uh you know like when I experienced some of these um these these types of treatments I thought that that was it you know uh so I I just don't have that attitude anymore I've opened up into a far more open person that realizes that there's ancestral wisdom which I absolutely adore that will go on for years and years and years to come thousands of years in fact uh that I've learned about there's the universal energies uh that I didn't understand always and there's people respond differently to different things some people don't like being open that's the way that they are some people are very moody that's the way they are so you have to understand that how w how you are yourself isn't how other people are necessarily and this is why you need the intuition to relate the intuition to understand when you're saying something that somebody's not really liking that or you're it it's it's out of balance uh for it and maybe that's not the right energy that you should be mixing with because they bring you down.
Eilyen: So you have to be able to be able to open up to a degree with some people and then you can go further with others or bring yourself back because it doesn't work.
Understanding Auras, Chakras and Energy Vampires
Soraya: A question I have about that about the energies I've I've read somewhere about that energy vampires what what are your thoughts about that?
Eilyen: Well I've had I've unfortunately had vampires on me many times I've given a treatment to somebody or done you know a reading or something and then I don't feel well afterwards. Because the aura around us depending which colours we are I have a healing vibration around in my aura and so um how do you know the colours i mean around you can you see colours around people I used to before I had the very big accident and it's starting to come back to me a little bit now.
Soraya: Okay.
Eilyen: But you can I can sense it I can close my eyes and and sense things as well. So I don't see always the full aura but there are people who can can do it.
Soraya: I have a friend who does it you know all the time with what do the colours mean eileen sorry I'm really interested in the auras and and energy.
Eilyen: So you know the colour of um the colour of light is in seven colours the principal colours of the chakras are seven colours yeah um and so the colour of the aura is in seven colours so it's they're always the same. So when we have red the red can be seen as the energy and the will the inspiration the connectedness to earth but it also can be the anger as in the ball ring you know brings up anger red so it's it's an activity but it depends at to what degree is it is it a rose red or is it it depends on the hue of it you know then we move up to the orange and the orange colour is um for the sacral chakra um and for again in the aura it's going out in that um in that dimension of um creativity and to do with our sexuality as well and our creative uh in in in creating babies and creating businesses and creating whatever it is you know that you're going to do but it's also our sense of other people very important.
Eilyen: Then we have our um solar plexus area which is yellow and that of course is the sun it's our worthiness and our light so in the aura these go out into the mental body the causal body the the emotional body and so forth until it goes on to infinity but in the chakras it will go into as I'm saying you know I'm worth it solar plexus area. Then it moves on up to the heart area and the heart pink and green because it's an upper heart and Lower heart. So there's the self-acceptance that we should love ourselves or can love ourselves, I should say, not the short word.
Eilyen: Uh love myself, accept that, and then there is the healing of the heart. Then we move to the throat, very important because this is our place, blue, uh, and aquamarine to do with our voice of communication and our wisdom, how we speak, what we're saying, and where is that coming from? Resonating down from the sacral, resonating from the solar plexus, all through our whole energy centers, you know. And then the last two areas of colour colouring goes into an indigo beautiful colour of that between blue and violet, um, which is our intuition, which as I said comes from the mind, the emotion, and then the intuition in the Trinity.
Eilyen: And then we go to the Ein Sof in uh Kabbalah, Kabbalistic Things, which is to do with um Thousand Petals, the number seven, which is uh uh white energy, golden energy, the golden ball, and then you can have the violet flame coming through, you know, all of these. That's the incoming will. So these colours in our aura signify how we feel in the day. The yellow is the intellect, by the way. Sorry, I'm I miss that out. Blue is a cool, cool colour. Uh, so and it's healing, it's a healing colour. So you can get the flashes of blue when you're when you're working with someone.
Eilyen: I don't know if you've experienced it when you find that your client has suddenly had a realization they might say, I saw blue energy. You know, so it goes on like that, or it could be violet as well.
Soraya: So the aura changes throughout the day, is that right?
Eilyen: The time. As we speak, it changes everything, yeah. And and that's related to the energy as well. It is our energy, it's a luminous energy, you know. We have an etheric body, uh our health is is seen on the etheric body around the skin. It comes in first on the outside of the body, and then it penetrates in. So if you're going to get a cold or a flu or something, it's coming in through the aura ten days before you know you have it. I actually saw that on a screen at the university. It's really interesting.
Eilyen: You saw the whole film of it, yes. Yeah. The cold coming in 10 days before. The virus coming in into the aura, then cut it, then it comes in. Takes 10 days for us to realize. We think we have the cold in the moment, but it's not been coming in for 10 10 days.
Soraya: Wow, that's really interesting. I didn't know that.
How to Protect and Clear Your Energy
Soraya: And and so you mentioned earlier that that energy vampire. So, what do you do like to kind of protect yourself from energy vampires?
Eilyen: Well, I do my best to do protection around my aura because um I'm so sensitive that if something happens to someone and they're telling me a story, I will cry. Like I've never been able to not not cry. The tears just come down. I can't stop it. So sensitive, I got it's just impossible for me. Um, and so I can pick up energy, you know, even behind me, or I I feel things when they're about to happen. So I have to sort of put like a cloak around me um to reflect it back away from me that I'm not you know uh exposed to it.
Eilyen: But that energy viper, you know um energy um vampire comes in when you least expect it, and it would be when you're doing your best for someone and you may be overgiving.
Soraya: But the idea of energy vampire, and you know, it's not like I guess people they all have these auras and everyone's energy is different. So when you when we think of an energy vampire, is it just like negative energy that's then coming towards you?
Eilyen: Yeah, people can be jealous of you. That's where it comes from the Middle Eastern word of the Malachiya, uh, the bad eye, you know, the evil eye. And so that is, you know, you've got to watch what people are saying to you because they don't always say to you what they actually mean. Why you need to listen to your intuition, what is that saying? Oh, you're looking lovely today, but maybe they're thinking, well, I want that. You know, it's a gentle that's not good for you, you know, you have to send that back.
Soraya: But I also feel like you know, people who work in our kind of um field, healing people, helping them, it is quite energetically draining. I find, you know, when I work with clients, I also have to make sure I go outside, change the energy. And like I when I have a shower in the evening, I like to use a sort of scrub to kind of um, yeah. Someone told me that we hold on to people's energy as well. So I thought that I that's part of my routine to kind of conserve my energy.
Eilyen: Uh but you need to get rid of it in your thought as well, in your in within your energy as well, by just going at sort of like taking a light that flashes through you with breathing.
Soraya: Yeah.
Eilyen: But from your head down to your to that right down into the earth to clear the energies and and and and say, I'm free now, I'm I'm back in my own energy, and then take the light off. Hmm.
Soraya: Yeah, and I think that's a great tip, just not only for us who work with people, but just in general, I think you know, women especially need to kind of let go of things that they've let in basically to be able to release that and move on with their day. Would you agree?
Eilyen: Yes, you have to keep mind being mindful of um what they're saying and what they're listening to.
Soraya: Yeah, no, absolutely.
Living Without Limits at Any Age
Soraya: And this is a question I always like to ask my guests. Um, what does living as your limitless self mean to you personally?
Eilyen: Being my limitless self personally is very much about the possibilities. Um it's very much about um taking each day as it comes and making make notes of what you need to do as well, and then taking it off as to whether you know what it is, then mixing with other people to see what it what what it is that other people are doing that you could be a part of or not part of, you know, depending on what it is, and look for your inspirations to allow yourself to think, you know, I've never done this, that might take me out of my comfort zone, but why don't I do it?
Eilyen: But not so it's stupid, I don't mean you know, jumping off a roof or something, you know, I'm I'm not within do something that you didn't really realize that you could take an interest in that call your attention away from what you do every single day. And then allow yourself to be open to uh the limitless possibilities uh that do exist in the world. We have to be part of that. Yeah, absolutely not turn around and say, Well, I'm retired now, or because I'm a particular age, then I'm not going to uh do that anymore.
Eilyen: Because if you can do it, you need to you need to embrace it and do what you thought you wouldn't ever ever do before or didn't have the time to do.
Soraya: Yeah, exactly. I I completely agree. And also, I think you know, your story is so inspiring, Eileen, how you know you were given that diagnosis when you were 17, 18, and you chose to kind of do what you believed was the right thing, and you know, that kind of led you where you are. So, you know, it's so easy just to listen to the doctors and believe that they know what they're talking about and just take it at face value, you know. And sometimes they talk about like the placebo as well, you know, when you're told you have a certain condition, you live a certain way, you can believe that, and that's what you have.
Soraya: But you, Eileen, you refuse to accept that. And I think that's just amazing in itself. The story that you shared with us today shows you are limitless, and you know, there is no limit to what you can do if you put your mind to it, just kind of go with what you believe.
Eilyen: Thank you. And I'm going to say to you that uh still at my age, I I don't have any medication in me.
Soraya: Would you mind sharing your age, Eileen?
Eilyen: Or is 78.
Still Belly Dancing at 78
Soraya: You 78? I I'm just I'm a bit blabbergasted. I did not believe that you you have seemed very live, young, well, you are young, but very lively. So wow, but that's a testament again to what you do. And I still do belly dancing. I love that. That's great. But this is it, like age should not define, you said that earlier, it shouldn't define what you're able to do. It is just a number. And my aunt actually, she's 73, and over the summer she said to me, You should never ask someone's age because it, you know, when you think of your number, you believe you should be a certain way.
Soraya: That's what stops you. But if you don't think of it that way, then you can the possibilities are endless.
Eilyen: We have to we have to be able to be limitless, as I said.
Soraya: Yeah.
Eilyen: Sometimes it's challenging that I can't do what I what I was doing when I was younger, but we still can move, as I said, and we can still do, we can still be in that, you know, in that way. And I like to think that now in my limitless possibilities, I bring clarity to people's minds. Yeah. And I use it, I do it with my with my uh readings. Allow them to have the possibilities to move on in their life. Yeah, no, I love that. And then, yeah, going onto that note, and please share with the listeners how they can work with you.
